Advocacy Training for Town Meeting Communities

Event Description:

The objective of this training program is to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and strategies required to effectively advocate around the MBTA Communities Act, particularly in a town meeting style of representation. The program will empower participants to engage with town meeting members, community stakeholders, and other relevant parties to ensure engagement and adoption of MBTA Communities zoning.

This training will be facilitated by Kristen Halbert of Black Lion Strategies. Kristen has over a decade of experience in civic engagement, leadership development, and messaging. She holds issue-area expertise in outreach strategies for communities of color, social justice, and young professional circles. Kristen currently works as a Senior Associate at Black Lion Strategies and covers campaigns, organizing, and community/government relations. Prior to this role, she served as the Union Skills and Leadership Training Specialist at the Massachusetts Teachers Association where she is a former member.
