Why is this important?

Public hearings are a key part of the legislative process. Every bill that is filed in the legislature must receive a public hearing, during which members of the public are encouraged to come to the State House, either in-person or remotely, and share their thoughts on the bill(s) being heard.

This is one of the few opportunities during the legislative session for members of the public to interact directly with legislators on bills they care about.
