Help us get more housing on the 2026 ballot! Join AHMA team, our members, and the Legalize Starter Homes Ballot Initiative team for a Weekend of Action this June 6th and June 7th!
The Legalize Starter Homes Ballot Initiative is an effort to update restrictive zoning to make it easier for working families, young people, and seniors to afford homes in Massachusetts. The campaign needs an additional 12,000 signatures to get the ballot initiative certified on the ballot and need your support to reach their goal by June, 17th
Your advocacy would involve spending a couple of hours outside your local grocery store or at a community event collecting signatures from your neighbors. Fill out this form if you are available on June 6th or 7th to help meet our goal of 12,000+ signatures before deadline!
We need volunteers to collect as many signatures as possible! Every signature counts toward ensuring voters can make their voices heard on housing affordability in Massachusetts. Not available to volunteer this weekend? We can still use your signature. Click here for instructions on how to print and sign your own petition form.

Why it Matters:
The initiative would facilitate the construction of smaller, modestly priced homes on smaller lots in communities where current zoning makes it nearly impossible. The goal is to expand housing options across the state without changing the character of existing neighborhoods, giving cities and towns more flexibility to meet local needs
