Join Abundant Housing Massachusetts for an afternoon of advocacy in support of two critical housing policies currently under consideration: legalizing duplexes statewide and Yes in God’s Backyard.
The legislature is back from its August recess, and the clock is ticking. With negotiations underway on the final version of the economic development bill, now is the time to make sure duplex legalization and YIGBY are included in the final compromise.
That’s why we’re hosting two advocacy sessions to give you the tools and talking points you need to contact your legislators and make the case for these critical reforms.
We’ll start with a brief Zoom training where AHMA staff will provide an overview of the policies, walk through a simple phone script, review key talking points, and answer any questions. Then, we’ll put the script into action that day by asking you to call your own State Representative and Senator to ask for their support.

How it works
Step 1: Choose a Session
Register for whichever session works best for you. On the day of the event, join the Zoom meeting using the link sent to your email.
Step 2: Get Briefed
AHMA staff will provide a short presentation covering where these policies stand in the legislative process, the details of each proposal, and the key messages to share with your legislators. We’ll also review the call script and leave time for questions.
Step 3: Make Your Calls
After the training, participants will turn off their microphones and cameras and use the call script to contact their State Representative and State Senator. You’ll ask them to support statewide duplex legalization and YIGBY.
Step 4: Share Your Experience
Once you’ve made your calls, you’re welcome to return to the Zoom room to share how your conversations went, ask follow-up questions, and hear from other AHMA members about their calls.
