In Memory of Bike and Transportation Advocate Louisa Gag

It is with heavy hearts that we join so many others across Greater Boston in mourning the tragic loss of Louisa Gag, who was taken from us far too soon. Our hearts are with her family, friends, colleagues, and the many people whose lives touched through her work and unwavering commitment to building a better community.

Louisa was a respected leader and advocate who dedicated her career to creating safer, more walkable, and livable streets for everyone. Through her leadership on Vision Zero and countless other contributions to improve street safety, she has left an enduring mark on Boston. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she will be remembered as a trusted friend, colleague, fierce advocate, dedicated public servant and a beacon of hope.

We know the loss is being felt deeply across the transportation, mobility, and planning communities and want to extend our deepest condolences in this incredibly difficult time. The work of building abundant housing and creating safer streets are all connected. We all share the same hope: communities where people can safely walk, bike, ride transit, and live in homes they can afford. Louisa believed in that future, and her work helped bring it closer to reality.

As we honor her memory, may we continue the work she so deeply cared about with compassion, determination, and a renewed commitment to building the Boston she envisioned.

With Sympathy,
Abundant Housing MA Board & Staff
