A JP YIMBY Initiative: Support Project 3326 Washington St!

This project was originally proposed over six years ago. Formerly the site of the JP Auto Glass business, it is now an empty building and parking lot. It is located 0.2 miles (less than a 5 minute walk) from the Green St stop on the Orange Line. The development proposes a five-story building containing 43 apartments. Despite an extensive community process, the original proposal was not able to break ground and the site has remained vacant ever since.

The site was eventually sold at auction to the current developer, who has put forth a new affordability proposal equivalent to over 20% of this project, through a mix of on-site affordable units, Section 8 voucher program set-asides, and payment-in-lieu of units as authorized under the city’s IDP ordinance.

This proposal needs community support in order to move forward. Without a workable affordability plan, this transit-adjacent vacant lot risks remaining empty for many years to come.
